User Manual – Getting Started

This section gives you the practical steps to go from download to your first organized SharePoint folder in under 30 minutes.

Before you install

  • Have access to your SharePoint synced folder in OneDrive or a network drive.
  • Prepare a simple client list (CSV/Excel) with columns like ClientName, Alias1, Alias2.
  • Close any backup/sync tools that might lock files during heavy processing.
  • Recommended: Test on a sample folder before running on the full production library.

Installing the desktop app

  • Click “Download Trial” or use the buttons below.
  • Choose Windows or Linux in the pop-up selector.
  • Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Launch “Blue River SharePoint Organizer V3” from your Start Menu / Applications.

Running your first scan

  1. Open the app. On the home screen, browse to your target SharePoint/OneDrive folder.
  2. Import your client list (CSV/Excel). This powers smart client detection.
  3. Optionally choose categories and naming template (e.g. Client / Year / DocType).
  4. Click “Scan & Analyze” to let AI read file names and content.
  5. Review the results grid: client, category, confidence scores and file paths.
  6. Export to CSV/Excel if you want to review with your team before applying changes.

Activating your license

  • After payment, you’ll see a license key on-screen and via email.
  • In the desktop app, go to Help → Enter License Key (or Licensing panel).
  • Paste your key (e.g. BR-ABCD) and click Activate.
  • Restart the app to unlock Professional/Enterprise features such as AI assistant and auto-organize.
